As the Associate Director of Design at Harper Wilde, I owned all things visual for the brand. Every email, ad, site update, and direct mailer went through my review before getting launched out into the world. My key areas of responsibility included:

    Creative Leadership & Brand Direction

    • Lead end-to-end creative execution across brand and marketing, from brief through final delivery, ensuring alignment with brand positioning, customer needs, and business goals.

    • Partner closely with executive leadership to shape and evolve Harper Wilde’s creative vision, maintaining a cohesive design language across product, marketing, and campaigns.

    • Review and approve all brand and marketing assets, ensuring visual consistency, quality, and brand integrity across channels.

    Team Leadership & Development

    • Manage, mentor, and empower a team of designers, fostering a collaborative, inclusive environment focused on creative excellence and professional growth.

    • Maintained 100% team retention during tenure as design lead, sustaining momentum and brand consistency through periods of growth and change.

    Operational Scale & Process Innovation

    • Successfully scaled creative output by nearly 2x without increasing headcount by implementing templates, streamlined workflows, and clear creative direction—enabling faster iteration and expanded testing across paid media and CRM.

    • Researched, piloted, and led adoption of AI-powered retouching tools in post-production, resulting in 58% reduction in cost per image, 77% reduction in turnaround time, and improved consistency across images while maintaining an elevated brand aesthetic

    • Built and implemented custom production tools (shotlist frameworks, fit calculators, conditional spreadsheets) to optimize photoshoot planning, on-set efficiency, and content prioritization.

    Creative Direction & Production

    • Lead art direction for e-commerce and lifestyle photoshoots from concept through final assets, partnering with Product, Marketing, Operations, producers, and freelance creatives.

    • Oversee post-production workflows including image selection, retouching direction, vendor management, and final approvals.

  • Harper Wilde | DTC Women’s Intimates & Apparel Startup | March 2022 – October 2024

I joined Harper Wilde at the start of their growth phase as a Senior Visual Designer and key partner to the Senior Art Director. While the Sr. AD focused on big picture brand initiatives, I poured my energy into optimizing and scaling the processes and output capabilities of the creative team without sacrificing quality. Collaborating with the Growth Marketing team, we built robust creative testing plans for Paid Ad and CRM channels, analyzing the data to see what truly resonated with both existing and prospective customers. Key areas of responsibility included:

    • Designed and executed high-performing creative across all marketing channels, including paid social, email, SMS, web, digital ads, and print.

    • Art directed and produced e-commerce and lifestyle photoshoots, collaborating cross-functionally on product fit, talent casting, and content capture.

    • Created high-performing stop-motion and animated assets for paid media, owning the full process from photography through animation and delivery.

    • Led art direction for monthly capsule collections in collaboration with influencers and nonprofits, including embroidery design, packaging, and web assets.

    • Supported and mentored junior designers and freelancers, reviewing work and ensuring adherence to brand standards.

    • Played a key role in 2023 brand refresh, conducting competitive analysis and leading typography updates in partnership with Brand Leadership.

  • 98point6 | Virtual Primary Care Health Technology Startup  |  January 2020 – February 2022

I joined the 98point6 marketing team in January 2020 — taking on the challenge of convincing businesses of the benefits that virtual care access would provide their employees — and then we all know what happened in March 2020. 98point6’s business exploded and we scrambled to scale the business to meet the new demand that social distancing created.

I worked alongside a team of designers to create a wide variety of branded materials for consumer, enterprise, and internal clients. Collaborating with internal company stakeholders as well as outside vendors, we drove customer engagement and brand awareness while maintaining brand excellence.

    Key responsibilities included:

    • Helped build and scale the 98point6 visual brand within a lean, fast-moving design team.

    • Created branded assets across consumer, enterprise, and internal marketing channels.

    • Collaborated cross-functionally with Legal, Medical, and Product teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and clarity.

    • Improved team efficiency by introducing templates, standardized file structures, workflow documentation, and self-serve design resources.

    • Developed and maintained a centralized digital asset library.

    • Mentored a Junior Production Designer.

  • Self-Employed  |  2008 – Present

While I absolutely love being deeply embedded in an in-house team and getting to sink my teeth into a brand day after day, I also freelance for select clients to keep things fresh and exciting. I find that taking on projects that excite me outside of my 9-5 keeps the creative juices flowing and makes me a more holistic and innovative creative.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Delivered end-to-end creative solutions—including brand design, photography, and campaigns—to improve brand awareness, engagement, and revenue.

    • Owned the full creative process from concept and pre-production through execution, post-production, and final delivery.

    • Selected clients include: Indegoot Entertainment, Ravel & Unravel, Buca Botanicals, Glazer’s Camera, Bellevue Arts Museum, Greyhound Pet Adoption Northwest.

  • Glazer’s Camera | Family-owned Photography Supply store serving the Pacific Northwest since 1936 |  2017 – 2019

    • Designed in-store signage and merchandising materials to clearly communicate product value and enhance the customer experience.

    • Redesigned camera-counter tags to improve clarity, cohesion, and adherence to brand guidelines.

    • Supported Marketing & Events teams with print and digital promotional assets.

Kind words

I’ve had the privilege of working with some truly incredible people. Here’s what a few of them had to say about working with me.

She's a fearless, strategic, and unbelievably thoughtful creative leader.

She set the cultural tone, not just for the brand and creative team, but for the entire company; a culture built on teamwork, collaboration, and kindness that was motivated to write, design, and create beautiful work.

Clara is a meticulous and extremely hard-working designer with impeccable taste. And one of the few creative leaders I’ve worked with who acutely understands the balance between process, performance, and brand standards. Because, yes, looking good is important. But so are the numbers.

She was able to effortlessly lead and connect a primarily freelance-based, fully remote team of designers AND copywriters (not an easy task). She understands a respected team = a motivated team. And because of Clara, our small, scrappy team did big, amazing things.

— Carli S.

Clara's outstanding collaborative skills became evident from the moment we started working together.

As I onboarded as a project manager, Clara's guidance and support were invaluable. Not only is she a remarkably talented designer and creative, but she also possesses the qualities of an empathetic and thoughtful leader.

Clara's exceptional knack for providing clear and constructive feedback to our team played a pivotal role in elevating our work and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

— Kelly P.

Clara brought value to our team from day one.

She's not just a highly skilled, creative, and pixel-perfect designer but also super organized, reliable, and probably one of the best problem-solvers I’ve come across. Clara was able to juggle multiple projects and multiple personalities and stakeholders seamlessly, while consistently delivering clean and thoughtful designs that always hit the mark with the brand.

She's quick, efficient, always has a positive energy, and will make the trickiest design issues look like a breeze.

— Mary N.

She shows up to every conversation with refreshing intention, thoughtfulness, care, and expertise — and where she doesn't have the expertise, a perpetual eagerness to learn and expand her skillset.

She has an eagle eye for details and simultaneously an impressive penchant for extreme organization that is a massive asset to the team. She's always looking for ways to bring heart to anything she does, improving the small things AND big things, and ultimately seeing the person through the madness — whether that's the customer or her coworkers.

Beyond her expertise and hunger as a creative, she's also simply a joy to be around and a wonderful collaborator.

— Jessee F.

Clara is one of the rare designers who can balance creativity and data driven insights with no ego.

It's so easy to work with her because she's so plugged into performance, what's resonating and what's not, and I know it's something she's always considering when making design choices.

— Melissa W.

I worked closely with Clara for over 3.5 years as the copywriter to her design and creative direction, and I would work with her for another 100 years if I could.

She is a phenomenally talented designer, of course, but what makes her stand out even more is her thoughtfulness and conceptuality. She thinks everything through and isn't afraid to take a step back or call something out in order to make it better. She cares about performance, but also beauty, inclusivity, and purpose in everything she does.

Beyond that, she has always been a great leader. Working with a bunch of freelancers on top of a few on-staff designers, Clara has always gone above and beyond to make sure everyone she works with has what they need and feels supported—even those she doesn't directly manage.

You cannot go wrong by hiring Clara. She will make your brand, your culture, and your life infinitely better.

— Lauren M.
